Today I won an auction I had my eye on. It worked out so that I had my computer running

and accessible, so it was easy to create a new account to purchase with (I've ruined all my previous accounts with no-shows to pick up the storage unit contents in time), and that I was directly in front of said computer about exactly 11 minutes before the auction expired, meaning I had a better chance of not being outbid, and therefore winning the unit at auction. I placed one bid for $10 more than the amount that was the winning bid, which is the minimum amount you can bid, with 3 minutes to spare. I toyed with placing a larger amount as a "maximum bid amount" but decided against it, and felt that the unit was mine. I was tempted to sit and stare at the computer screen, refreshing every few seconds,to see if a bid was made that was larger than mine, but Haven wanted a bottle, and so I decided getting him that was a good effort in self-restraint, and he obviously is more important than getting disappointing news that I (if I followed my own "rule") wouldn't be doing anything about anyways.
