Mushroom Picking in W. Wash., U.S.A.

Look for the toasty honey brown colored caps atop white stems - called blue ringers because after they’re picked, within an hour or few, they’ll develop an inky dark ocean royal blue color that circles around the cap at its edges. The blue color also shows up in patch kinda patterns in the stem, I think.

Anyways. Look for these growing under cover of longer grasses, and often in the company of, or intimately sharing the territory with, blackberry bushes. Be in a position so that you are able to kinda leaf - page - gently pick through and look down into handfuls of longer grass for the contrasting shape, texture, and color closer to the ground but usually protected by the coverage of the longer plants.
