i had no clue our bird had arrived, i dont think haven did either

just sitting there, large blue-black, strong, very intelligent face, almost emotional, i dont know it well enough to say, but these intimate encounters and the close-up glimpses of his/her face that I allow myself to take in are fascinating to me. I wish direct eye contact weren't so taboo. My birds soon came to love it; they'd get cozy and on one leg with eyes heavy lidded under my steady, admiration-filled gaze, they'd sigh a relaxed, perfectly safe and comfortable breath, and their shoulders would relax down. you could pretty much see a smile of contentment on their hook-beaked face

there was one for a few weeks that curiously had befriended a small black bird with a pale white beak, much much smaller than the cro-raven. But i first saw the crow watch as the tiny bird hustled up to gather the food i had tossed to the big bird. i looked at the crow in surprise and his body language gave me the impression of someone kind of playing dumb, like hey man idk, im just goin with this for now, but really i have no idea what's going on

i saw this same situation a few more times over the weeks, the crow more confident in its role as a kind of guardian over the tiny bird,'for whatever reason. I saw the crow watch carefully over her food activities patient and very intent-filled.
