Can you help me find out if there is a way I can prove someone's family member stole their benefits card and was using it without authorization? The person whose benefits were stolen was a victim of severe abuse at the hands of their father, the one who stole the benefits card and was using it. The abused person was a minor initially, and then moved out of their father's residence no more than a few months after turning 18. The new adult applied for state benefits and had their first benefits card mailed to their father's house, their only valid address at the time. The father confiscated the card and began using it, and did so for about 6 months. The abused person is very afraid of their father, and was too afraid to report what he had done. However, they are now considering bringing a claim for damages against the dad in Superior Court and are trying to gather as much evidence as possible of the mistreatment that has occurred. Is there a way the abused person can access historical transactions, even if a new card has been issued and the transaction history they want to see is for a card that was never in their possession, though it was meant to be? Is it possible for someone at your office to pull that information using a social security number? Or is such specific information even retained for longer than a few months?
Thank you!
Tess
